The Personal Independence Payment Assessment Process

The new PIP benefit launched nationally on 10th June 2013. PIP is a ‘personal’ payment and recognises individual differences. Some people who apply for PIP will need to be seen face to face, others may be able to provide sufficient evidence for their assessment to be completed without a consultation.

The attached animation aims to explain the processes surrounding PIP and to provide an alternative to the text description of the process that have been published so far and will be over the coming days and weeks.

An important feature to understand is that PIP is based on how each individual is affected by their disability or health condition, two people with the same condition can be affected in different ways.
